Privacy policy

Mood Dude

This policy applies to the Mood Dude Android app (package com.eiilo.games.mooddude). Mood Dude is a platformer made by eiilo games. It has no accounts, no sign-up and no chat, and the game itself collects no personal information. The app shows ads through Google AdMob and measures how it is used with Google Analytics for Firebase, and that is where almost everything in this policy comes from.

The short version

  • The app keeps the last level you reached and your sound and music settings on your device, and nowhere else.
  • The app shows ads served by Google. Google may use your device’s advertising ID, IP address and device details to serve and measure those ads, subject to your consent where the law requires it.
  • The app sends usage statistics (sessions, how long they last, which ads were seen) to Google Analytics for Firebase so we can see how the game is played and how the ads perform, subject to your consent where the law requires it.
  • We never see your name, e-mail address or contacts, and we do not sell data.

Who is responsible

Mood Dude is published by eiilo games, the developer named on its Google Play listing. For any question about this policy, write to hi@eiilo.com.

What the app keeps on your device

To pick up where you left off, the app saves three things in its private storage on your device:

  • the last level you reached;
  • whether music is on;
  • whether sound effects are on.

None of this is ever sent to us or to anyone else. The delete all your progress button in the app’s settings resets your level, and uninstalling the app deletes everything it saved.

Advertising

The app uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) to show ads: banners on menu screens, occasional full-screen ads between levels, and optional rewarded videos you can choose to watch in exchange for something in the game. Ads are never shown during play.

To serve and measure these ads, Google may collect:

  • your device’s advertising ID, which you can reset or delete in Android’s settings;
  • your IP address and the approximate location derived from it;
  • device and app details such as model, operating system version, language, screen size and the app’s package name;
  • which ads were shown, viewed or tapped, and whether a rewarded video was watched to the end.

We do not receive this data ourselves. It is processed by Google under Google’s privacy policy, and Google explains its ad practices in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent through Google’s consent form before requesting any ad, and honours the choice you make. Personalised ads are shown only if you agree to them. You can change your choice at any time from the privacy option in the app’s settings. If the consent form cannot be loaded, for example without a network connection, the game starts anyway and shows no ads until it can.

Anywhere in the world, you can limit ad personalisation by resetting or deleting your advertising ID in Android’s settings, under Google, then Ads.

Usage statistics

The app includes the Google Analytics for Firebase SDK. It tells us, in aggregate, how many people play, how often and for how long, how many come back, on which kinds of devices and in which countries, and how many ads are seen per session and what they earn. We use this only to improve the game and to understand how the ads perform. We do not use it to identify you.

To do this, Firebase collects:

  • a random app-instance ID created when the app is first opened, which is reset if you uninstall the app or clear its data;
  • your device’s advertising ID, which links app usage with the ads shown, and which you can reset or delete in Android’s settings;
  • app events such as first open, session start, time spent in the app, screens viewed and ad impressions;
  • device and app details such as model, operating system version, language, app version, and your country or region, derived from your IP address, which is not stored.

The data is processed by Google on our behalf and shared with AdMob, both linked to the same Google account, under Google’s privacy policy and the Firebase privacy and security information. We see it only as reports and charts in the Firebase and AdMob consoles. Google Analytics keeps user-level data for at most 14 months before deleting it.

In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the consent form described above also governs usage statistics: Firebase reads your choice and limits what it stores, and how it may be used for advertising, accordingly.

Permissions

The app asks for internet access and the ability to check whether you are connected. Both exist only so ads and usage statistics can work; the game itself plays fine offline. It does not ask for your location, camera, microphone, contacts, files or notifications.

What we never do

  • We do not sell data. We hold none of our own to sell.
  • We do not run analytics or crash reporting beyond Google Analytics for Firebase, described above.
  • We do not combine usage statistics with anything that identifies you by name.
  • We do not track you across other apps or websites.

Children

Mood Dude shows ads and collects usage statistics, so it is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Parents or guardians who believe a child has used the app and have concerns can contact us and we will help.

Keeping and deleting data

What the app saves lives only on your device and disappears when you uninstall it. Usage statistics are kept by Google Analytics for at most 14 months at user level, then only as aggregate reports. Data processed by Google for ads is kept according to Google’s own retention rules and can be managed through your Google account and Android’s ad settings. We keep nothing of our own to delete.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of personal data about you, to object to its processing, and to complain to a data protection authority. Because we do not hold your data ourselves, most of these requests are best made to Google through the links above. You can still write to us and we will help you find the right place.

Changes and past versions

If the app ever starts handling information differently, for example if a “remove ads” purchase or crash reporting is added, this page will be updated, with a new effective date at the top, before that version of the app is released. Earlier versions stay online so you can see what changed.
